The Decision Dilemma

Your life is made up of a series of decisions that you’re faced with every moment of the day.

Everything you say or do is a result of a decision.

The place you find yourself today is a result of decisions that you’ve made.

Are you fit, overweight, educated, rich, unhappy, successful, in a dead-end job, unemployed, single, divorced?
The roots of all of those circumstances are a result of decisions you’ve made.

The question is did you make the right decision?

How often do you think about what you’ve done and what you should’ve done?

How often do you regret your decision and wish that you could turn back the sands of time to change it?

There are so many ways to make decisions.

A typical example taken from wikiHow is as follows:

    1. List your options.
    2. Weigh the possible outcomes.
    3. Consult your intuition.
    4. Make a choice.
    5. Implement your decision wholeheartedly and joyfully.
    6. Evaluate your decision.

But most of us will make decisions on the spur of the moment without thinking them through.

The following factors make it even harder:

    • You don’t have enough relevant information
    • You can’t see into the future
    • Procrastination
    • Emotional involvement
    • Overthinking or analysing – analysis paralysis
    • Leaving options open or a backdoor to escape through
    • Other people’s opinions and feelings
    • The voice or commentator inside your head
    • Indecision

Decision making is much easier if you know what you want out of life or have goals that you are striving for.

Decisions are the foundations for taking charge of your life.

Wouldn’t it be great to always make the right decision?

Do you think it’s possible?

The H.A.L.T. method. Never make a decision when you are Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired.

  1. Hi Farouk. Life would be a lot easier if we knew what right decisions are. We would save so much time and energy not having to live with the consequences of poor decisions.
